DuPont Teflon® Industrial Coatings

Industrial products made with Teflon fluoropolymer resins have exceptional resistance to high temperatures, chemical reaction, corrosion, and stress-cracking. The properties of Teflon have allowed Precision Coatings to prevent corrosion in applications that otherwise could not be coated.

Teflon Coatings have superb release characteristics. They melt flow to smooth, nonporous films, and are thus more chemically resistant than other PTFE coatings. Teflon coatings are extremely non-wetting and have very low coefficient of friction.

Typical advantages to Teflon?

  • Teflon is a dry powdered coating process that will enhance the durability and longevity of normal steel parts. In practical tests, Teflon? has extended the life span of oil field equipment that was normally coated with thick film epoxies. The main reason being that the entire ID of the part was coated, leaving NO exposed surfaces.
  • The fluoropolymer protects threads without compromising the makeup or tolerance of the parts connections. This is not possible with fusion bonded epoxies, due to their thickness.
  • Produces smooth, even 1-4 mils of protective coating to all areas of metal parts. There are no exposed areas.
  • Teflon provides resistance to hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (co2), oxygen, salt water and stimulation acids.
  • Moderate Baking temperatures ensure that the coating has an even melt flow and creates a non-porous film on the substrate.
  • Reduces Total Cost of ownership.
