BB-401 Tubing Coatings for Oil Well Tubing
BB 401 is a fusion bonded thermosetting phenolic epoxy powder, recommended for use over a phenolic primer on the Internals of steel tubing which is in adverse temperature and pressure service and in contact with corrosive gases, oils, chemicals, waters and acids. This coating provides corrosion protection in:
- High temperature environments (275°F).
- High pressure environments.
- Sweet and sour gas environments.
- Oil Production
- WAG Injection Systems
However, performance may be greatly dependent on the service conditions and downhole applications.
BB 401 meets the requirements of CSA Z 245.20-02 and 06.
Typical Properties of Applied Film
Recommended Film Thickness: 16 - 20 mils avg.
Impact Resistance: 160 in.lbs (Dir/Rev)
ASTM D 2798@ 25°C (77°F)
Heat Distortion Resistance: Tg3=103°C(217°F)
DSC - glass transition Temperature
Bending: > 3.0 / dia. length @ - 30 °C

BB 401 has been tested at 5800 psi and 250°F in crude oil and salt water mixtures simulating crude oil production conditions found in wells of moderate depth.
Exposed to 2000 + hrs of salt spray - ASTM B117-97
Hardness: Barcol (ASTM D 2583 - 68 Avg.) - Shore D (ASTM D 2240-74 - 95 Avg.)
